How did this come about? Strictly because of a casual comment by one of our Woolen Willow customers who asked "Why isn't there a magazine focused on primitive quilts & projects?"
Aha! The light bulb came on and in the fall of 2010 we launched into high gear to produce our publishing company, "Homespun Media, LLC", and “Primitive Quilts and Projects,” an international magazine dedicated to the primitive quilter, rug hooker, and stitcher. Our debut issue, “Summer 2011,” hit the scene in April 2011 to rave reviews, selling out in a matter of months. Since then we’ve enjoyed producing a new issue each quarter, and watching the circulation grow by leaps and bounds.
Homespun Media, LLC is a partnership between Jeni Gaston, Judy Williamson and Gretchen Smith... all sisters, and all about bringing you the finest publications in the industry. You'll love the look and feel of our beautiful magazines...the projects are submitted from some of the most admired in the primitive fiber arts world. Each issue offers at least 15 projects, inspiring show and tell, a focus on charitable causes and a fun advice column from our own Mom, Mary Falcsik.
We are a small, family-owned business, located in Williamstown, West Virginia, on the Ohio River. It's a nice small town (population < 3,000), across the river from historic Marietta, Ohio. There's a lot of early U.S. history in our area, and a lot of primitive-style homes. This provides a seemingly endless supply of great photo-shoot locations for the magazine.
We invite your questions, comments and submissions at any time. This is quite a journey and we are so happy to be taking it with you!
We hope you come back to our site often to see what we're up to!
